Vertical Band Saw

The Shop in Bray Lab has a vertical band saw that can be used to cut wood into custom shapes.

Setup

• Adjust the blade guard to 1⁄4” above the work to be cut
• Workpiece must sit flat on table

Safe Operation

• Always rest workpieces that are being cut on the worktable
• Stand balanced, rest your palms on the table, and use fingers to feed the piece into the blade
• Use push sticks to guide the piece through the bandsaw when your fingers approach the blade
• DO NOT push on the piece along the bandsaw’s line of cut

Cleanup

• Clean table, floor, and surrounding work area
